Come and explore St. David’s, a place of Pilgrimage, Peace and Beauty
The tiny cathedral city of St Davids is actually no larger than a village. It was constructed on the monastery site around the time of the 6th century. Located in South Wales, within the Pembrokeshire National Park, this smallest UK city is bordered by stunning coastal scenery. It’s well known for its abundance of wildlife and its natural beauty.
If you choose to rent a static caravan in this south Wales location, you will be spoilt for choice with the wonderful attractions that city has to offer its many visitors.
The patron Saint of Wales, St David, was born during a fierce storm on a cliff top. The location of his birth is now marked close to a holy well, with the remains of a small ancient chapel. More recently, his mother Non has an 18th century chapel constructed and dedicated to her near to St David’s Cathedral. In more modern times, St David’s is a stunningly beautiful city with narrow streets filled with art galleries, hotels, restaurants and cafes. The annual highlight is the Cathedral Festival held every summer in May, celebrating classical music in Wales. There are numerous beaches and countryside walks where you can discover the villages and hidden coves along the incredible coastline.
The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path
Running for 186 miles along the coastline, the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path allows ramblers the experience of not only walking along the crumbling and precarious clifftop walks but also the fine section of the St David’s Head Peninsula. If you feel you cannot tackle the whole route, there is a three times daily bus service – the Puffin Shuttle, taking in St Brides Bay and heading to Marloes.
The South Wales Peninsula
Around the islands and shores you will discover some of the most noteworthy wildlife to be found anywhere in the UK. Spot porpoises, dolphins and seals. Not to mention the incredible bird life on Ramsey Island that is supervised by the RSPB.
The Peninsula is an amazing location for family holidays. Fishing, yachting, climbing, coasteering, canoeing, surfing and walking, are just some of the outdoors activities you can experience. Everything is here for your family holidays, with static caravan holiday parks offering many varied facilities and attractions.
