A historic city, Gloucester was given the status of a Port in 1580 by Queen Elizabeth l. CAMRA Beer & Cider Festival – 22 – 23 April 2016
You will be able to choose from in excess of one hundred different types of beer at this festival and thirty types of cider from across Britain. Being held in the 13th century Blackfriars Priory by the waterside in Gloucester, you will be able to make merry on St George’s Day in true historic tradition. Naturally, there will be wedges of Gloucester cheese to sample too.
You can only purchase tickets at the event at a cost of £6 which buys you a full day, a programme of events and a souvenir festival glass. Proceeds will go to the Poppy Appeal.
Strike A Light Festival 12 – 28 April 2016
This event takes place in several different places across Gloucester simultaneously and is a chance for local people and visitors to get together over a bite to eat, with inspirational entertainment including dance and theatre.
Strike A Light encourages artists and performers to work in Gloucester and gives them a platform to exhibit their work and talents. The Festival is a way for to raise money in order to continue this work. Hence, whilst tickets are priced at £5 if you are able to give any more it is always greatly appreciated.
Dragon Boat Regatta 2016 – 8 May 2016
This is a highly popular event with thousands of visitors attending every year at Gloucester docks to witness a race of boats that are decorated as fiery dragons. There will be 30 rowing teams participating competing for a variety of prizes.
This is a great day out for all the family with plenty of interesting stalls selling almost anything you can think of, a funfair with exhilarating rides and live entertainment.
Commencing at 10 am there is no admission fee for spectators and the event will carry on until 6 pm.
