Can Renting a Caravan Compete with Glamping?

For those who don’t yet know what Glamping is, it’s really the same as camping but in a luxurious tent, something I am sure will enhance the camping experience for those who truly love camping.  However, in my view Renting a Caravan in the UK provides a similar experience to Glamping but with even more luxury and comfort.

For example, you won’t get a flat screen TV in a tent and for those of us that like to keep up with the news whilst we are away, that is a must for some people. It’s also something to keep the kids occupied in inclement weather.

No trudging through the mud

Trudging even a short distance in the mud to the toilet isn’t something that most of us would volunteer for and there’s none of that in a static caravan; indeed many have baths as well as showers nowadays.

Who says you can’t cook outside when you are renting a caravan?

Campers love cooking on campfires and it has to be said that food cooked in the open air certainly seems more flavoursome; but this could be because having spent time outside walking, hiking, mountaineering, kayaking, canoeing or participating in any other outdoor activity you will build up a good healthy appetite. Caravan kitchens are fully equipped and most have some form of barbeque facility outside, so caravans definitely come out tops as far as diversity in culinary facilities are concerned.

Renting a caravan is more secure than glamping

A tent, no matter how glamorous and luxurious it is, will never have the security of a static caravan so you would likely have to keep more valuable items locked in your car or leave them with the campsite owner.  It’s not ideal being stressed about leaving your possessions in an insecure environment when you are supposed to be winding down and relaxing.

Campsites don’t often have restaurants, live entertainment, bars and other fun packed activities; you have to go out and find them whereas most caravan holiday parks have them all on site.  Naturally, this doesn’t mean that you can’t go out and explore the local area facilities but the fact is you don’t have to if you don’t want to.

Child minding services available on caravan holiday parks

Many caravan holiday parks have clubs and creches for children of all ages.  This means that parents get some time to themselves.  It is rare to find a campsite that provides all round entertainment and child minding services for kids.

So on balance, my money would be on renting a caravan for the best experience of enjoying the countryside with the right balance of indoor and outdoor activity. What do you think?
