Officially the sunniest county in England – who wouldn’t want to rent a caravan in West Sussex for their holidays? Perhaps that’s why Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Adele decided to lavish £6 million on a 10-bedroom mansion in the region!

With an estimated 1,902 hours of sunshine per year, according to Met Office records that date back over the past 29 years, anyone who decides to rent a caravan in West Sussex not only has the south coast fantastic sea and beaches to enjoy, but plenty of countryside to ramble in and thriving towns in which to socialise. Chichester is the central point, but the area is also home to Arundel, Bognor Regis, Burgess Hill, Crawley, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Horsham, Littlehampton, Midhurst, Petworh, Shoreham-by-Sea, Steyning, and Worthing.

West Sussex is rich with history and culture spreading throughout the region with an abundance of interest for young and old visitors alike – in fact it would be fair to say you are spoiled for choice. From Arundel castle to Horsham museum (home to collections of poets Percy Bysshe-Shelley and the creator of Frankenstein Mary Shelley), to the country house of Goodwood , you then have the deer park at Petworth House and vastly attractive Chichester Harbour on the Solent; not to mention numerous sites of prehistoric interest that are fun to explore.

Whether you’re into art, gospel music or Morris dancing you will never be short of entertainment on a local level. There is a wealth of film and photography clubs and independent cinemas to enjoy, as well as art galleries, comedy clubs and orchestras. Writing is popular as too are opera, concert bands and ballroom dancing. If participating is not your scene then West Sussex is equally rich in Grade A restaurants, pubs, nightclubs and live music.

Sports and hobbies
When you discover that Sussex has long been regarded as the birthplace of cricket it is perhaps not surprising that sport and leisure activities of all kinds are in plentiful supply throughout the region – no more so than in the West. And talking of history, West Sussex is the place to be if you want to try your hand at Stoolball – a game said to have been invented by milkmaids in the 15th century; it is a precursor to cricket, rounders and baseball with milkmaids’ stools being used as the wicket! It is a very popular participator sport, so much so they even have local leagues!

Whether you enjoy participating or prefer a choice of spectator events, West Sussex has much to savour to while away the time. Canoeing, kayaking, angling, croquet, badminton, fencing, golf, gymnastics, mountain boarding, petanque, polo, sailing, and table tennis are all popular here as much as football and rugby and tennis.

The Seaside
Last, but by no means least, when you rent a caravan in West Sussex you are blessed with marvellous seaside vistas and roaming countryside to go with it. Bognor Regis is of course the most famous in West Sussex, but there are also popular stretches out in Selsey and Worthing, while the charming port of Littlehampton is becoming a thriving holiday community. If it’s a British holiday by the sea grabs you, West Sussex has it all in spades!
