Private caravan rental is one of the most affordable types of holiday accommodation for Staycations. There are so many interesting places to explore in the UK and Suffolk is a county bursting with natural charm. Located on the East coastline of England, it offers over fifty miles of unspoilt coastline.
Its many medieval towns and enchanting villages are a draw to writers and artists, while foodies are spoilt for choice with its abundance of restaurants and great local produce. In Suffolk you can spend long, lazy days by the seaside, immerse yourself in the historical town of Bury St Edmunds, become proficient in maritime life in Ipswich, delve into Constable Country or visit the home of horse-racing.
The Suffolk Coast
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Suffolk coast is a popular holiday location for fun-filled, family holidays. Private caravan rental is in abundance on the many holiday parks in several stunning locations along the miles of Heritage Coastline, with beautiful beaches. There are many walks along the coast, whether you enjoy exploring on foot or you are an experienced rambler. There are exhilarating beach walks to be enjoyed at Felixstowe, Aldeburgh, Southwold and Lowestoft.
Dominated by the Mere, the tiny village of Thorpeness was transformed in 1910 by Stuart Ogilvie into his whimsical, dream holiday village, to showcase the fascinating “House in the Clouds” and the attractive mock Tudor houses. You can sail for hours around the Mere amongst the small islands with names relating to a Peter Pan theme. These islands have names such as “Wendy’s Island” and “The Pirate’s Lair”, based on the novel by J M Barrie.
Several of the seaside towns have amazing seafront gardens where you can sit and while away the hours in the sunshine. The Kensington Gardens in Lowestoft were first designed in 1922. A huge canopy of evergreen oaks now conceals some of the original elements of the garden that are almost one hundred years old. The boating lake and tearooms at Southwold are located next to the famous Pier. Here you can view a wide range of bedding displays as well as the natural fauna and flora of the region. The seafront gardens of Felixstowe have 8 connecting Grade II listed gardens which were created 100 years ago in the Victorian era, when visitors came to Felixstowe to partake of the sea air and the famous Spa water.
There are many events and festivals in the area, although you may find it difficult to choose between those that celebrate the produce of the region, music, sport, walking, photographs or the arts. Here are a sample of some of those advertised this spring and summer time.
