Known to be the largest area of heather moorland, spanning over 1400 miles, the Yorkshire Moors contain areas of hidden valleys, open moorland, sudden escarpments and dramatic sea cliffs. Book any of the caravans for hire in North Yorkshire from Rent My Caravan and you will be guaranteed to see breathtakingly beautiful scenery in this not very well known area of National Parkland; not to mention roe deer, hawks and badgers in their natural habitat. Look closer and you will discover historic castles, abbeys and priories, hidden hamlets and villages, and traditional pubs.
The North Yorkshire Moors span a broad area to the north and east of the walled city of York, stretching from the Yorkshire coastline to the Vale of York and Vale of Mowbray; overlooked by the white cliff area of Sutton Bank with the market towns of Northallerton, Thirsk and Boroughbridge.
Popular destinations around the Moors include Kirbymoorside, Helmsley, Ryedale, Pickering, Thornton-le-Dale, Mount Grace Priory and Goathland which is renowned as the location for filming the TV series of “Heartbeat”.
Running along the northern edge of the Moors are the Cleveland Hills; whilst to the west are the Hambleton Hills with the Yorkshire coast and popular seaside towns of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby to the east. In the south of the region you’ll find the Vale of Pickering and the valleys and gentler hills of the Yorkshire Wolds.
